GreenHomeNYC has been promoting sustainability and supporting green professional development in NYC since 2003.

Our volunteers develop, organize and manage all our programs. What to Expect

Staff volunteers organize all of the activities of GreenHomeNYC, with help from the members of the Board of Directors and the Partners in Practice Advisory Board. Some of the programs have fixed schedules and some do not, and each program group meets about once a month to keep things rolling.

Volunteer Teams

  • Green Building Tours

    This entails finding and scheduling buildings, outreach and follow-up.

  • Monthly Forums

    Help plan the presentation by securing speakers, guests and event spaces.

  • Green Careers

    Plan events that support green career professionals in their career paths.

  • Communications

    For those who want to learn more about marketing and communications, help get the word out about the organization.

Volunteer Roles

  • Occasional Volunteers

    Help with event tasks, from checking in guests, event setup and documentation. This is a great way to learn how events come together and meet other volunteers.

  • Staff Volunteers

    Perform the core activities of GreenHomeNYC programs, including contacting and coordinating speakers and events.

  • Lead Volunteers

    Coordinate the operations of a specific team (such as Forums, Careers, Tours and/or Communications) with 2-3 other leads.
